Purpose: A PACS Viewer which mainly used in radiology, for effectively using in reading of nuclear medicine images, was developed in this study.
Materials and Methods: Nuclear medicine images, images of SPECT and PET, have been used and all images in form of DICOM 3.0 have been directly transferred to PACS in Asan Medical Center. A Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) image, a coronal image, and a sagittal image have been reconstructed using the nuclear medicine axial images. A target region, selected on the MIP image, could be represented at the same position on coronal and sagittal images. Additionally, various tools, including support of pseudo color and easy control of window/level by using scroll bar, have been employed.
Results: The PACS Viewer(SPECT and PET Viewer) which could 3-Dimensionally show nuclear medicine images was developed. SPECT viewer has been included as a type of dialog in PACS Viewer, and PET viewer could operate independently. The PACS Viewer provided viewing 2D series images and 3D Images of MIP, coronal, and sagittal.
Conclusion: It was easily to find the target region by using the developed PACS Viewer. It is expected that the application of nuclear medicine images can be expanded by using the PACS Viewer.
